Episode 28 - The Run Beyond Project
Scott crosses to a phone interview with Shelley Cootes, founding ED of Penrith Lakes parkrun (Sydney International Regatta Centre), prompted by Brendan Davies naming it his favourite parkrun a few weeks earlier. Covers the event's group of deaf/hearing-impaired parkrunners and Auslan interpreter volunteers, its three alternate courses (lap of the lake, the Southern Bank up-and-back, and a two-lap cross-country course), the March access-gate/car-park crisis that nearly closed the event and the community, media and council campaign that saved it, the resulting push for a second Penrith parkrun, and her own parkrun history (77 volunteer credits, 50th run planned for Penrith's 100th event on 30 July).
