The parkrun adventurers are all over Qld this week! We wag tongues about tail-waggers as roving Andrew interviews Maryborough (opens in a new tab) parkrunners and their extra special parkdogs. Capalaba (opens in a new tab) parkrun Event Director Blair Habberjam stops by for a chat and to cap off a BIG episode, the popular ‘Facts in a Haystack’ segment is back with delightful data dissected and dispensed by parkrun adventurer Ian Hay!

Scott crosses to roving reporter Andrew at Maryborough parkrun (QLD) for the episode's title story: Tash brings a different dog each week from the Maryborough Animal Refuge to parkrun to improve adoption rates, six dogs so far this year, all six adopted. Andrew also speaks to Taylor, who adopted Rusty through the scheme and did her first parkrun with him that morning. The hosts then swap their own parkdog stories: Scott's dogs Buster and Champ (Buster can no longer run after a back problem 12 months ago) and Mel's Clover and Enu.

Studio interview with Blair Habberjam, Co-Event Director of Capalaba parkrun (QLD), who shares the role with Amy Strong. Covers their run reports (inspired by Liv Coop at Cleveland), balloons for milestone runners, themed events including a clown-themed birthday and a Waitangi Day theme (he is originally from New Zealand), moving the start line past a narrow bridge now that attendance is consistently over 200, spray-painted course arrows and K markers, regular marshal Vicky at the second junction, and the event team (Eva, Shirley, Tammy, Ted).

Ian Hay's stats segment, explicitly announced ("Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Facts in a Haystack"). Settles last month's Scott-vs-Mel name contest on volunteering: Scotts 751 all-time Australian volunteer credits to Melissas' 595, with Ians topping both at 764. Then: four Australian record attendances already in 2016 and 102 course attendance records by late February against 101 for all of Q1 2015; six events with four course records each (Albert Melbourne, Maribyrnong, Mount Barker, Shellharbour, The Ponds, Wangaratta); PB leaders Torrens (427), Lake Mac (~350) and South Bank (~328), with Churchill 21%, Woodbridge Riverside 21% and Devonport 20% by percentage; and volunteer counts by running club, Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can't Run Good 3,734, 530 Runners 3,030, Running Mums Australia 2,900.

One anniversary: Tuggeranong, with a superhero theme; Mel speculates that Event Director Gary Clark, already seen in Flash and Superman costumes, may want a third.
