The parkrun adventurers are all over Qld this week! We wag tongues about tail-waggers as roving Andrew interviews Maryborough parkrunners and their extra special parkdogs. Capalaba parkrun Event Director Blair Habberjam stops by for a chat and to cap off a BIG episode, the popular ‘Facts in a Haystack’ segment is back with delightful data dissected and dispensed by parkrun adventurer Ian Hay!

Roving report — Maryborough parkdogs (Andrew)
Scott crosses to roving reporter Andrew at Maryborough parkrun for the episode's title story. Andrew interviews Tash, who brings a different dog from the Maryborough Animal Refuge to parkrun each week — six dogs so far in 2016, all six adopted — and then Taylor, who adopted Rusty through the scheme and ran her first parkrun with him that morning. Returning to the studio, Scott and the co-host swap their own parkdog stories (his dogs Buster and Champ; hers Clover and Enu) and Scott says the segment has inspired him to approach his own local refuge.
Facts in a Haystack
Ian Hay's monthly stats segment, introduced with a formal call "Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Facts in a Haystack." This instalment: closes off last month's running gag by revealing all-time Australian volunteer counts by first name (Scotts 751, Melissas 595, Ians 764 — Ian wins and refuses to brag); notes four Australian record attendances already in 2016 and 102 course attendance records by late February versus 101 for all of Q1 2015; names the six events with four course records each (Albert Melbourne, Maribyrnong, Mount Barker, Shellharbour, The Ponds, Wangaratta); PB leaders by volume (Torrens 427, Lake Mac ~350, South Bank ~328) and by percentage (Churchill, Woodbridge Riverside and Devonport all ~20-21%); and volunteer totals by running club (Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can't Run Good 3,734; 5:30 Runners 3,030; Running Mums Australia 2,900).
