Phoning in from a game reserve on the banks of the Crocodile River next to Kruger National Park: his 19th place and sub-six-hour run at Comrades (the "down" run, Pietermaritzburg to Durban, 89km), race strategy and pacing to effort, how his trail background beat marathon runners on the ups and downs, parkrun as part of his build-up (Penrith Lakes and Lawson as home events, a 16:09 5K PB at The Ponds), the parking/access dispute at Penrith Lakes and his "breaking news" that a solution has been agreed, and the Trail Kids clinics he runs with fellow elite trail runner Jo Prochetto.

Welcome starts at 0:05
Melissa Erbacher hosts with Scott Trickett after a wet weekend of cancellations up and down the east coast that halved national numbers, though Melbourne was merely wet. Mel flew to Darwin for her first Northern Territory trip, meeting Darwin ED Mark Connolly, running the Darwin City to Surf for an icy finisher's towel, holding a baby saltwater crocodile named Fluffy and becoming the tenth member of the Peel Club (a parkrun in every Australian state and territory), with vox pops from Sunshine Coast visitors and Darwin locals Louise, Jill and Joe. She also drew level with Scott on 30 events, finishing 150th, and vows to overtake him.
Meet the ED starts at 35:41
Studio interview with Tracey Bryan, Event Director of Aveley parkrun in the Swan Valley, WA (~25km from Perth CBD). Covers the event's third anniversary in July with a doctors-and-nurses theme, how she raised $2,200 for an AED/defibrillator via a local Ellenbrook accountancy firm and a Stockland Aveley community grant, taking over as ED from founder Dave Allmark, her 59 runs and 41 volunteer stints, her sister at Heaton parkrun in Manchester, course record holder Matt Smith placing fourth (first in age group) at the World Duathlon Championships in Spain, and running her first marathon before turning 50.

Mel said that was all they had time for and that they had come to the end of another one; asked how he would rate it, she put it in the top 23, maybe even the top 24. Scott said he had fun, that it was great catching up with the week's guests, apologised that the episode was a bit late and looked forward to doing it all again next week, after which Mel pointed out that they were pretty sure they had not said goodbye.
