We speak to Event Director Luke Kneebone about special plans for Castlemaine parkrun, and Roving Reports are abounding with adventurers checking in from Albert Melbourne, Greenbank and Chelsea Bicentennial parkruns.

Streaky September
ORIGIN of the Streaky September challenge. Scott admits he tried a daily run streak for August and broke it after three days ([00:04:52]-[00:04:58]), and says he will restart on 1 September and "I want all adventurers to join me" [00:06:19]. Melissa coins the name at [00:06:32] "Streaky September", Scott replies "That's it. We've even got a catchy phrase for it" and Melissa adds "we can use that as a hashtag". She commits to joining from 1 September but not earlier, on doctor's advice.
Roving Adventurers (roving reporter crossovers)
Scott moves the roving reports to the front of the show this week ([00:07:46] "Should we have a look and listen to all our roving reports first up? We usually have them at the end"). Three self-contained reports follow back to back: Lyndell Murray at the Greenbank parkrun launch, Gary Murphy at Chelsea Bicentennial's first birthday, and Joanne at Albert Melbourne. Melissa frames them at [00:07:56] as "an anniversary... a launch, and... an event that's happening all the time".

Lyndell Murray's branded roving-report slot. Trailed by Melissa at [00:00:45] "we've got Lyndall coming back with another Channel 5 news team report" and by Scott at [00:07:49] "I'm keen to see how our Channel 5 news crew is coming together". Lyndell opens [00:08:08] "It's Lyndall, I'm back for the Channel 5 News crew" and signs off [00:17:05] "on behalf of the Channel 5 News crew". NOTE: earlier episodes established this bit as the "Channel 4 News Crew" — see notes; this episode says Channel 5 four separate times across three voices.
Statesmen update
Delivered from the field rather than the studio this week, inside Lyndell's Greenbank report. At [00:11:17] "the question always comes up at parkrun launches. Are there any statesmen?" She tracks down "our three remaining statesmen who have maintained that status today" — Michael, Rasheen and Alan — and interviews them on what it takes to keep the status; Alan and Rasheen are also doing their 100th different Australian parkrun that day. Studio interview with Luke Kneebone, Event Director of Castlemaine parkrun (Victoria). Covers the event's two-year history and growth (average up from mid-40s to about 60), the three-lap Botanic Gardens course, and at length the cultural day planned for that Saturday: an early quarter-to-eight start, an acknowledgement of country and smoking ceremony led by Aunty Julie, Indigenous food, storytelling and a cultural walk. Scott strongly endorses parkrun events acknowledging country. Not named as "Meet the ED" on air this week — identified by format.
Launches and anniversaries ("Where is the cake?")
Scott: "there's plenty happening still over in London this weekend, as are launches and anniversaries. Where are we going for cake this week, Mel?" A quiet week: one anniversary at Wishart (Queensland) and one launch at Torquay in Victoria, which Scott talks up as a big one for Victorians ("Torquay is quite iconic. It's the beach town. It's Bell's Beach Surf Festival"). He flags more metropolitan Melbourne launches in the coming weeks.
