Welcome starts at 0:07
Mel and Scotty, courtesy of Symphony Hill Wines and Chocolate, Scotty over chocolate after Easter and on two weeks' holiday in Bright in the Victorian High Country, where he scored his first 59:59, was left for dust by his mate Matt (founder of Lillydale Lake and now Bright parkrun) running his 100th, and will guest-RD Bright this Saturday; he also owns up to a deliberate 20 km down-week in marathon training. Mel finished Run the Date and tells the day-25 story from Shellharbour: a not-a-run with Scotty past a lighthouse and marina, Strava stopped mid-run while taking a photo, so she ran about 45 minutes to get 25 on the record.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 17:36
The bulk of the episode is roving reports back to back with no studio segments between them, Lyndell Murray from the Kelvin Grove parkrun launch in inner Brisbane, Melissa Ellis from an Easter-themed Pakenham parkrun in Victoria, and Dave Moss from St George in south-western Queensland. Scott sums it up afterwards: "A veritable treasure trove of roving reports this week, Mel. So much so that it's taken up the entire podcast. Episode 106 is all about roving reports."
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 29:02
Lyndell signs off her Kelvin Grove report "This is Lyndell signing off for the Channel 5 news crew on the parkrun adventurers". Scott then frames Melissa Ellis's Pakenham report as "another solid... application for entry into the Channel 5 News crew. Not there yet", with Mel adding "We make them work hard for it these days, don't we?", Dave Moss is described as having had the honour "bestowed on him many months ago".
Launches and anniversaries starts at 37:45"Where is the cake?"
Scott asks "what's happening in parkrun World this weekend?" One launch: South Toowoomba, Queensland. Anniversaries at Kedron and Main Beach, the latter is the seventh anniversary of Main Beach and therefore of parkrun in Australia, with a big party, junior parkrun announcements and "something else that's a bit exciting" promised by "the boss". Also anniversaries at Lismore (NSW) and Traralgon (Victoria).
Sign-off starts at 45:59
Scott turned from the Commonwealth Games to ask what they were doing at the weekend: he was run directing at Bright, using the volunteer app for the first time with Yvonne nervous on the stopwatch, and asked people coming to Bright to say hi and bring a GPS watch just in case. Mel would not say where she was going, teasing only that she would be sailing another sea somewhere in Queensland and that she had been to the craft store for costume accessories including velvet, to be revealed on Instagram on Saturday.
