Scott Trickett and Melissa Erbacher on a Friday release, Scott teasing that he has lined up a replacement co-host for one week. International parkrun Day 2018: Mel kept it low key at St Lucia, a new event for her that Lyndell Murray reported from about a dozen episodes earlier; Scott went to The Ponds with the boss, had dinner with the event team on the Friday night, saw a councillor and the local member open a new council-funded path before the briefing, ran a negative split on a flat course and gave in to the doughnuts in the cafe, and enjoyed the mix of cultures there. Roving reports to follow.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 7:19
The bulk of the episode: five roving reports, all explicitly filed under the Channel 5 News Crew banner. Scott sets it up "We've got a couple of our Channel 5 News crew overseas at the moment" and jokes about the wage bill. Lyndell Murray reports from Heritage Harbour Ottawa parkrun in Illinois on the eve of the Chicago Marathon (interviewing Australian, Russian, British, Irish, South African and American parkrunners plus ED Pierre); David Moss files a double from Derry City parkrun and Derry City junior parkrun in Northern Ireland; Gary Murphy from Geeveston in Tasmania; Melissa Ellis from Castlemaine in Victoria; Greta from the launch of Charleston parkrun in South Australia. Lyndell signs off "Over and out for the Channel 5 News crew."

Prompted by a chat about "parkrun birthdays" (Scott 2 March 2013, Mel 3 November 2012), the hosts go category-by-category through the Running Challenges Chrome extension's additional athlete stats, scoring each as a contest: total parkruns (Scott 226, Mel 145), Wilson Index (Scott 6, Mel 3), tourist quotient (Mel 44.83%, Scott 28%), average parkrun latitude/longitude (Scott near Lake Tyrrell in northern Victoria, Mel inland from the Sunshine Coast near Roma) and total distance travelled as the decider (Scott 119,000km, Mel 93,980km). Scott declares himself the winner.
Launches and anniversaries starts at 1:16:41"Where is the cake?"
One launch this weekend, Centennial Park parkrun in Sydney, which Scott notes Tim Oberg has been working on "since he brought parkrun to Australia", with a tongue-in-cheek plea for listeners to stay away in week one so the numbers don't frighten anyone off. Anniversaries read alternately by both hosts: Bannockburn Bush (VIC), Berwick Springs (VIC), Galston (NSW), Kalgoorlie Boulder (WA), Mossman (NSW) and Yurunga (NSW).
The Hotline starts at 1:19:35listener questions
Listener voicemail question segment, introduced by a produced "Hotline" sting. Bruce and Rory ask "What's your favourite music for running to?" Mel answers with Pink, The Fray, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Walking on Sunshine and the Rocky theme, plus any song with running in the lyrics; Scott prefers anthemic electronic music but says he mostly listens to podcasts now. Both hosts flag the segment is running out of road, "Keep the hotline questions coming because we're out. We have no more" / "we've got one more for next week."

Mel opened the where-next exchange by asking about the big plans at Scott's home local: he would not be running at Westerfolds but taking part in a "walk-off" against the Zoolanders, whose Matty Trent was coming onto his home ground, and Scott called on any Zoolanders listening to come along. Mel said she was gutted to miss it but would be getting a new event elsewhere, and after a detour into the delayed second co-host - lined up but held up by getting Mel technically competent to record - Scott said he might or might not speak to her next week and wished her a good parkrun this weekend and next.
