Roving reports
In this episode
Welcome starts at 0:23
David Moss and Melissa Erbacher, recording from opposite ends of Mel's house in Palmwoods to get around technology problems. Dave got a course PB at Mudjimba Beach a year after his last visit, cooled off in the beach shower and swears by a wide-brimmed Bunnings hat filled with ice, also used at Harris Avenue a fortnight earlier; Mel walked Redland Bay with Adam's brother and sister-in-law before they move to New Zealand, plus her brother Nicholas and family, picking up a Wilson Index number and narrowly missing her stopwatch bingo time after crossing the line with her niece Lani. The Margie Lewis interview that follows was recorded by Mel alone after repeated rescheduling.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 41:17
Cameron files his roving report from Champion Lakes parkrun (Perth, WA) as his formal application to join the Channel 5 News Crew. He reads out a rejection email from "the parkrun adventurers" telling him his earlier application failed because he had not completed the set challenge, then works the challenge out as he goes: interview a pod listener he does not already know, with bonus points if they can name an existing news crew member. He talks to Run Director Richard, to Wendy, to founding Event Directors Anne and Teresa, and finally to Tricia, who names two of the crew. Back in the studio (00:55:42-00:59:46) Mel and Dave adjudicate, joking that no Tricia appears in the Champion Lakes results or volunteer roster, then admit him: "Cam, you made it… Welcome, Cam."
Sign-off starts at 1:06:34
The host told Dave it had been a pleasure to have him join her once again and almost in person in what she called the Erbacher Recording Studios, said he had done a stellar job, and closed with "here's to many more parkrun adventures".
