Welcome starts at 0:23
David Moss hosting with Melissa Erbacher, recording at the far end of Mel's house in Palmwoods on the Sunshine Coast before Dave's since-cancelled tennis game. Dave took a spontaneous 600-700 km road trip with his friend Mark to Yeppoon on the Tropic of Capricorn, to get there while the current course still exists, and recorded audio with Run Director Natalie about the changes coming, which plays next.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 3:04
Dave Moss's own field audio from his spontaneous 600-700km road trip to Yeppoon parkrun in central Queensland: an interview with Run Director and Co-Event Director Natalie about the Capricorn Rail Trail course, their new course record of 119, and the imminent move to a beachfront course along Statue Bay. Mel and Dave discuss it in studio afterwards and urge listeners to get there before the change.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 12:43
Two Channel 5 News Crew roving reports back to back. Cameron Drake covers the launch of Edinburgh Oval parkrun on the Curtin University campus in Perth, interviewing Event Director Mark and Run Director Nayo and doing finish-funnel vox-pops; then Mark Scarborough reports from his home event, Wagi Bridge parkrun in Canberra, with a comic 'cross to the weather', an interview with visiting tourist Brendan Peel about his ACT Territorian quest, and Event Director Ian knocking off his NENDY. Mel and Dave cross back and thank 'the gentlemen both for submitting those roving reports this week'.
parkrun World Tourist Meetup starts at 29:47
The episode's headline topic. Mel explains the parkrun World Tourists Facebook group (started about a year earlier by UK parkrunner Cass Castleton; entry requires four parkrun countries, with the UK counting as one, which is how Dave was rejected on his Isle of Man attempt), its spreadsheets for country counts and an international alphabet, and the Continental club. The inaugural World Tourist Meet-up runs on 8 February 2020 at five events across five regions - Presint 18 (Malaysia), Delta Park (South Africa), Castle Park Bishop's Stortford (UK/Europe), Livonia (USA/Canada) and Rhodes for Australia/NZ, where 25-30 people are expected. Simon Nash proposed the annual meetup date.
Sign-off starts at 40:23
Dave asked Mel where she expected to be running or volunteering next week: she was not on any roster and had no locked-in plan, with a longer adventure depending on how Emmett's teething night went, while Dave hoped to be at Golden Beach for its sixth anniversary, close to home, and recounted losing a Zillmere volunteer stint to heavy Brisbane rain and giving up a pre-event set-up shift rather than make a visiting friend get up at five. Mel thanked Dave for joining her again, saying it is always a pleasure to have him in the Palmwood studio, and he noted that her audience, Emmett, was awake again.
Outtakes starts at 44:38
A short blooper reel tacked on after the sign-off: Dave repeatedly starting the intro and forgetting to say his own name ('I still didn't include my bloody name, did I?... Hold on, I'm writing this down now. David.'), before finally nailing the take that opens the episode. Mel: 'I'm glad we don't do outtakes on this.' / 'Well, we might have to this week.'
