Welcome starts at 0:16
Melissa Erbacher with Scott Trickett back as guest co-host, ribbing each other about his abrupt departure, the theme music he left as his legacy and the download stats he never handed over. Scotty was on the Gold Coast and Brisbane for the week and ran a sweltering Kedron parkrun on Saturday, having eyed off Bunyaville but picked the cheapest Uber-to-airport option; Mel broke her 28-event tourism streak at Kawana, pushing both boys in the pram and chatting with Rogan, a Johannesburg parkrunner. Mel and Adam plan to divide and conquer their NENDY list, Mel is off to WOMADelaide for #palm20 with Scotty attending, and a pre-recorded #palm20 guest interview follows.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 36:12
Mark Scarborough files a Channel 5 News Crew roving report from the launch of Warringal Parklands parkrun on the Yarra in Melbourne (~700 finishers). He describes the 2.5km out-and-back course and interviews finish-token volunteer Megan (an RD at Maribyrnong), the Mayor of Banyule, Alison, who talks up the Possum Hollow playground and the Araluen-run Chance's Cafe, Event Director Matthew Gregory on why he founded the event, a parkrunner going by "Action Man", and fellow adventurer Mel Ellis.
Pippa and the Tame Volunteer starts at 51:36
Pippa and her "tame volunteer" Harriet report in from Dulwich parkrun in South London, re-recording after a windy first attempt. They rule themselves out of the World Pasty Championship at Eden Project parkrun (255 miles / a 4.5-hour drive away, with entries due 8.30-9.30am against a 9am parkrun start) and settle for eating a Cornish pasty instead. Framed in the show notes as "our friends from the Northern Hemisphere... are back", so a recurring bit rather than a one-off.
Sign-off starts at 1:01:06
Mel turned to wrapping up and Scotty asked whether they were done and could have the music. She asked how he felt being back and he said he had loved it and missed it immensely, though it was a one-time guest appearance; they worked out he had been gone about six months and 25 episodes, with Mel saying 169 was his last episode, and joked about a review and rating of all her co-hosts, which they were too pressed for time to do, and about him returning twice a year. She insisted on thanking him properly for joining her on episode 194 before the music, saying it had been fun having him back, and he said it had been great to be back.
