Whilst we wait for more news on the return of parkrun why not check out the most recent episode of the parkrun adventurers podcast.
With one of our RD's Paul Kitching as co-host, alongside the wonderful Melissa Erbacher; PK and Mel chat with Marc Scarborough who had just attended one of the recently re-started NT parkruns.
It's a good chance to hear how parkrun will be a lil different as Marc talks about a few subtle differences... whilst it's generally just a chance to hear someone talk about doing an actual parkrun - which is pretty rare at the moment > but hopefully not for long! Enjoy!

Mark Scarborough
Mark's return to real parkrun at Nightcliff parkrun in Darwin, one of only four events running in the world that weekend as parkrun restarted in the Northern Territory. Covers rearranging the family itinerary out of Kakadu to make the Saturday, choosing Nightcliff for the alphabet-challenge N and because it is Australia's northernmost parkrun, his son James finally reaching his 50th after six months stuck on 49 (helium balloon, 50 shirts, and a guard of honour laid on by their home event back home), how the COVID framework and token scanning worked on the day (around 180-190 finishers), and what is left of the trip, Uluru, where he plans a quiet run around the base in memory of his stepfather in place of the cancelled Berlin Marathon.

Welcome starts at 0:23
Paul Kitching (PK), back as a roving-reporter co-host from South Australia, with Melissa Erbacher. Mel sat in on Danny Norman's With Me Now Facebook/YouTube live cross to the Northern Territory for parkrun's return in Australia, one of only four events running in the world that weekend, and PK enjoyed watching it and meeting Shani on screen alongside Renee. PK has been running a home-made 5K not-parkrun course from his front door, Mel Ellis style, and keeping up Tim Oberg's 5k-a-day idea for 2020 (day 265 at recording), though not always as running.
Streaky September starts at 5:03
Both hosts discuss how their streaks are going: PK is combining Streaky September's minimum 2km a day with his own 5K-a-day-for-2020 challenge, while Mel admits she finds the daily 2km tricky when it creeps up on her in the afternoon. They also cover the Streaky September Bingoe card, the Strava heart (Mel has yet to do it) and streaking in pyjamas, which Mel ticked off in navy flannelette pyjamas with her partner Adam walking alongside. Returns with a sign-off encouraging the "streaky September mob" to just start again the next day if the streak breaks.
Sign-off starts at 35:08
Mel said that pretty much wrapped it up for another week and thanked PK for joining her again, and PK said he had forgotten how much fun it was. Mel wished all the listeners the best - keep on keeping on, one step ahead of each other - and told the Streaky September crowd it was fabulous to see the streaks coming in and that if they broke a streak they should just start it again the next day; PK added that you have to be kind to yourself because only you can do that.
Ugly Christmas Singlets starts at 37:27
Solo postscript recorded by Mel after the main episode: the 2020 Ugly Christmas Singlets have arrived, with shirts and kids' sizes added this year. Orders are open until 21 October via the parkrun adventurers Facebook page or the International Ugly Christmas Singlet or Shirt Day page, ahead of the day itself on 19 December 2020. She explains the gap between recording and release was down to getting the singlets out.
