Show notes

Did we get your attention? Good! We’ve also got the Big Cheese and a swathe of roving reports from the UK (Queens parkrun in Glasgow and Flint Castle in Wales) to Poland (Zalew Łęg) and back home, with Gayndah River Walk ( in Queensland). There’s all the usuals too with Reginald and a rhyming Dazzas to enjoy. Who is the Big Cheese you say? Why it’s Tim Oberg of course! Bringing us a RAD review of his latest pursuit.

Guests

Tim Oberg

Founder of parkrun Australia and its former CEO; now founder of the Healthy Kids Project charity and the RAD Run Club schools program

RAD Run Club - a digital, gamified reimagining of the before-school run club, where RAD stands for Resilience, Attitude and Determination. Tim covers leaving parkrun in 2022, the decline in kids' physical and mental health, how house points and per-school lap distances make it a leveller for non-runners, the distance-milestone digital badges (5K, a 14K "City to Surf", a 90K "Comrades"), the parent-controlled accounts that keep kids off screens, current uptake across Queensland, NSW, SA and Victoria plus one South African high school, and the free sign-up at radrun.club.
