Roving reporter report — Shepparton anniversary (Matt with ED Allan Connolly)
Scott crosses to "our roving adventurer, Matt," who visited Shepparton parkrun for its second anniversary and interviewed Event Director Allan Connolly. Covers the big hats / big hair theme, a record attendance of 182 (previous record 154), a description of the Victoria Park Lake course (two laps, flat and fast), and Brendan Peel covering the run director role so Allan could run his own 100th parkrun.
Junior Adventurer interview (Takesha with Brendan Peel)
A short interview conducted by "our junior adventurer, Takesha" with Brendan Peel at Shepparton: his home parkrun (Albert parkrun, Melbourne), 70 tourist parkruns, three favourite courses (Shellharbour, Sandon Point, Churchill Island) and what he loves about parkrun. Scott thanks her by name afterwards.
Statesmen update
A running tally of parkrun 'statesmen' (people who have completed every event in a state). Explicitly framed as a continuing bit — "We talked about statesmen last week. We got a few things wrong. We were corrected." Corrections issued for Queensland (Michael Schultz on 55 events, not Alan and Rasheen Burrell), a new NSW statesman (Cathy Rae, all 36 NSW events, one off the ACT too), and Brendan Peel identified as the only multi-statesman (VIC, TAS, SA, NT).
Where is the cake? (weekly anniversary/launch calendar)
The weekly look-ahead at Saturday's launches and anniversaries, opened with what sounds like a catchphrase: "Time to have a look at what's on the calendar for this Saturday. We have no launches to attend but where is the cake?" This week: St Peter's in Sydney, fourth anniversary with a fluoro theme; Point Cook in Melbourne, second anniversary with a Hawaiian theme.
