Ian Hay joins us for ‘Facts in a Haystack’ and brings with him a ‘Battle of the Ages’, and Roving Reporter Paul Kitching (aka PK) gets all the gleeful goss on the green at Mt Barker parkrun’s 2nd Anniversary.

Junior Adventurers roving reports
The episode's title theme: a montage of short vox-pop interviews recorded by junior parkrunners at Ballarat, Launceston, Diamond Creek, Central Lakes and elsewhere, plus a bonus junior interview tucked in after the sign-off. Scott and the co-host launch a new hashtag off the back of it at [00:14:23]: "Junior Adventurers". Not a pre-existing branded segment — a one-off themed episode built around listener-supplied junior audio.
Event Director interview (Miriam Tan, Dubbo parkrun)
Interview with Miriam Tan, founding Event Director of Dubbo parkrun and newly appointed NSW Territory Director — Dubbo's remoteness (3.5 hours to the nearest parkrun), 300 runners a week from a 2,000-strong registration base, the Macquarie River out-and-back course, the event's chalk drawings, Youcef Abdi's course record, and her own parkrun story via Newcastle and Tamworth. Introduced with a formulaic recurring opener rather than a segment name: "It's time to catch up with another event director".
Facts in a Haystack
Ian Hay's regular stats segment, this week all junior stats: juniors up from the usual 12-13% of runners to 16% (3,800 of 23,000), Tamborine Mountain highest junior percentage (30%), Shellharbour highest junior count (77), 18 juniors in the 100 Club and 328 in the 50 Club. Ends with a request from the co-host for a future rundown of juniors on the Most Events list, which Ian agrees to bring back next month.
Battle of the Ages
A head-to-head sub-bit inside Facts in a Haystack, introduced by Ian as "the next segment I've got here is what I've called Battle of the Ages". Adults vs juniors across three categories with the hosts guessing first: volunteers (adults 38% v juniors 20%), first-timers (juniors 28% v adults 17%) and PBs (juniors 25% v adults 19%) — juniors take it 2-1. Named in the show notes.
Roving Report — Mount Barker parkrun 2nd anniversary (PK)
Self-contained roving report by Paul Kitching (PK) from Mount Barker parkrun's second birthday, with four short interviews: Mayor Anne Ferguson, a fellow "Derek Zoolander" running group member named Scott, SA Territory Director John Laurie (flagging Clare parkrun launching 23 April), and photographer volunteer Gary "Gaz". Signs off "Peace and out from Mount Barker parkrun." Not branded as "Channel 4 News Crew" in this episode — just a roving report.
