Roving reports
In this episode
Welcome starts at 0:13
Melissa Erbacher and Scott Trickett, episode 88 (Two Fat Ladies), compare anniversary mornings: Scott calls his a lifetime top-five weekend, with Westerfolds in green and everyone lingering after the run, then Sunday at PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo, with daughter Kasia, which has him wanting a pop-up parkrun at PAX next year. Mel's Kawana anniversary had 80s sports costumes, her Jamaican bobsled team out-liking Scott's photo on Instagram, and they spar over who will reach 50 events first before noting November is upon them.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 23:45
Scott introduces three roving reports: Greta at the Kangaroo Island parkrun launch (SA), Lyndell Murray at Mudgeeraba parkrun's fourth anniversary (Gold Coast), and TOC at the Railton launch (Tasmania), Australia's 250th parkrun. Runs 00:23:45-00:59:45, then the hosts debrief. Introduced as "Continuing our long-standing tradition of having roving reports, we've got three more ready for you this week."
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 24:05
The show's branded roving-reporter crew. Scott bills Lyndell as "also from the Channel 5 News crew" and she self-identifies as "roving reporting for the Channel 5 News crew". At- the hosts joke about running out of safari-suit uniforms and set TOC a challenge: cover another launch next week and they will add him to the crew.
Launches and anniversaries starts at 1:00:54"Where is the cake?"
Upcoming launches, Coonawarra (SA, which Melissa first places in Victoria), Port Hedland (WA, debated as Australia's most remote parkrun, with Cloncurry's recent launch as the rival), and East Richmond (NSW, renamed from Richmond, adding an "E" for alphabet chasers), plus anniversaries at Maitland, Willoughby and South Bank (Brisbane, about to turn five).
Sign-off starts at 1:04:44
Scotty said 'that's another podcast done' and asked what else there was to wrap up with; Mel reminded listeners they had only one more week to get their perlustration responses in and to enter the TomTom giveaway, then lost the word she wanted (Scotty offered collaboration and cooperation, neither of which was it). They trailed November Madness returning next week with a contestant from New South Wales taking on carryover champion Melissa Ellis, and noted her Wicked Witch of the West-erfolds costume, with her daughter roped in, for the green theme at Westerfolds.
The Perlustration starts at 1:04:50annual listener survey
Melissa reminds listeners they have one more week to submit their Perlustration responses and enter the associated TomTom giveaway. Referenced earlier too, where the hosts joke about whether "who's the favourite adventurer" should have been a survey question.
