Chris White
Running 17 marathons in 2017 and raising $17,500 for the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute - how the challenge grew from three events to 17, the taper problem and clustering marathons, the Alice Springs and Surf Coast Trail highlights, a treadmill marathon in Port Melbourne as the final and hardest one, and what Albert Melbourne parkrun means to him.
Roving reports
In this episode
Channel 5 News Crew
Double roving crossover introduced by Scott at [00:50:45] "The news crew has been busy again this week." Lyndell files a short report from Cleveland parkrun (southeast Queensland) with a quick chat to run director Stu; TOC then reports from the launch of Marriott Waters parkrun in suburban Melbourne, talking to Deputy Mayor Amanda and co-ED Justine. Both reporters name the Channel 5 News Crew on air.
Launches and anniversaries ("Where is the cake?")
Scott runs the weekly launch and anniversary rundown: one launch to close out 2017 in South Australia at Reynella East (ASR: "Ronella East") this Saturday, and one anniversary - Mullum Mullum. Played as a reversed game from the previous week, with Scott quizzing Mel on which anniversary events she has been to (she scores 0%, he scores 100%).
Netflix picks
Closing banter bit - Scott asks [01:00:51] "Any Netflix picks for me this week or any reviews?" Mel reviews A Christmas Prince ("just as terrible as it sounds, but in a very satisfying way") and Miracle on 34th Street; Scott reports on Elf and Dear Santa.
parkrun adventurer intern (Christmas carol outro)
Post-sign-off bonus bit. An unnamed voice - "the parkrun adventurer intern" - notes that Mel and Scotty failed to deliver the Christmas carols they had promised, and sings Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer over the closing minute of the episode.
