A Thursday lunchtime treat is ready for all our adventurers this week. Lee Troop joins Lyndell and Scotty from Boulder, Colorado to chat about being a three-time Olympian and coach at the Boulder Track Club. And his thoughts on parkrun... naturally.
The Ch5 News Crew were busy at Port Fairy (opens in a new tab) parkrun, Karkarook (opens in a new tab) parkrun and Charleston (opens in a new tab) parkrun, South Australia.
And we want to know how Lyndell can get her 'Other' volunteer box ticked. Or how you've completed the role. Share people. Share

A long phone interview covering Gabe Grunewald's legacy and the memorial run Troop did with his daughter; his transition from elite athlete to coach and the Boulder Track Club; the death by suicide of one of his athletes and the burnout that followed; his early career in Geelong, the junior-college move to the Texas panhandle, training with Steve Moneghetti in Ballarat, breaking Ron Clarke's 5k record and his 2:11 London Marathon debut; and his thoughts on why parkrun has been slow to take hold in the US, including a warning that talk of "parkrun world records" strays from what parkrun is for.
Roving reports
In this episode
Welcome starts at 0:21
Lyndell Murray, standing in for Mel, with Scott Trickett. Scott sets a goal of 187 episodes to overtake the parkrun show as the longest-running parkrun podcast; he is in week three of his four-runs-a-week plan while Lyndell admits to parkrun only, and Barney's Garmin Connect step challenge has exposed how little Scott moves working from home. Lyndell ran St Lucia alongside orphans from a cancelled South Bank (botanic gardens maintenance); Scott went back to Darebin, ending a 12-week streak of different events, with both a run away from a P-index bump.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 42:03
A run of three back-to-back roving reports, explicitly badged as the Channel 5 News Crew. TOC reports from Port Fairy parkrun in Victoria (town history, whaling/Belfast, the Folk Festival) and interviews ED Kate and walker Hester. Gary Murphy reports from Karkarook parkrun in Melbourne's south-east ("Karky Parky"), interviewing RD Chris and parkrunner Simon about the hot-air balloons and the reversed course, four women from Highlands doing an alphabet challenge, young volunteers Tom and Greta with mum Angela, Amanda Kwong of Achilles Melbourne, and RD Annie. PK reports from Charleston parkrun in the Adelaide Hills at minus two degrees, interviewing Event Ambassador Melissa Cox, breakfast companion Tracy and ED Kylie Ross, and rounds off the South Australian "pirate club" C-events list. Scott wraps them as "a trifecta of roving reports" and Lyndell says "The Channel 5 News crew are rocking it."
Launches and anniversaries starts at 1:12:52"Where is the cake?"
One new launch, Charlie's Creek at Chinchilla, west of Brisbane, with Lyndell noting there is no history yet because "parkrun's only just come to town" and predicting the Queensland statesmen will head out that way. Three anniversaries: Logan River, Mirawar in New South Wales, and Atherton in Queensland, which Scott spins into a State of Origin joke.
Sign-off starts at 1:18:04
Scott asked Lyndell where she was going that weekend and she said she did not know, another cliffhanger, while Scott said he had plans he had not locked down and would be going for a run with someone he would talk about next week. He then called it on a long episode, thanking Lee for sharing his story and spending time with them, mentioning the roving reports he had not yet listened to and would hear when he assembled the episode, thanked Lyndell for at least one more week, and said he would check in with Mel to see whether she was ready to return.
