Welcome starts at 0:22
Melissa Erbacher with Dave Moss in the same room for once, recording on the last day of the financial year, with Ugly Christmas Singlet 3.0 promised for later in the year. Both are doingparkrun, which drew almost 19,000 participants across 20 countries in week one and a growing list at their home event Kawana: Mel ran her Palmwoods loop that looks like a toilet on Strava and took more than three and a half minutes off, Dave ran Boondall Wetlands and then the Mansfield course in Brisbane, going from 25:09 to 21:30. They wonder whether stopwatch bingo restarts, a question for Andy and Laura, and celebrate New Zealand relaunching this weekend with events adopting a parkrun country each in solidarity.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 18:27
Melissa Erbacher crosses to a pre-recorded roving report from Melissa Ellis at her unofficial lockdown "Ellis Palace parkrun" (Event 14), recorded a few weeks earlier in June. Ellis welcomes two visiting tourists, Brendan Peel and Renee Jackson (Run Director at Wyndham Vale parkrun), for an attendance record of four including Ellis's husband Paul as "lead runner". Renee tells how a persistent friend got her into parkrun at the Wyndham Vale launch, the Wyndham Vale 50th-run capes and Cluck Norris traditions, and how her kids pulled her out of the isolation slump; Brendan describes missing out on Kangaroo Island parkrun when lockdown hit, rediscovering his local Fairfield area, and his perennially non-starting "Peelsville Sanctuary parkrun". The episode's own show notes badge this as a Channel 5 News Crew report, although on air Erbacher only calls it a roving report.
Sign-off starts at 39:43
Mel said they should probably leave it there for the week and thanked Dave for coming out to little old Palmwoods to join her, joking that it was not a toilet recording this time. Dave said that would pretty much do it until whenever the next podcast was, since there was no set date, and Mel signed off from Palmwoods with 'happy adventuring, everybody out there' while Dave added 'stay healthy'.
