Welcome starts at 0:18
Ollie Spake on Dharawal Country and Melissa Ellis on Wurundjeri Country: Ollie's family sat up through a storm and he is losing sleep to the kick-yay (football) World Cup, while Mel had all five kids together for Zoe's birthday and puzzled over the Samoan flags around Melbourne for the Rugby League final. Mel park-limped event two at Prince of Wales parkrun in Ballarat on Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung land with Parth, meeting Irene, Andrew Johnston and Martine Barrot, with TOC interviewing ED/RD Kylie; Ollie was RD at home. They belatedly reveal last week's Obi presenter was Tim Oberg, note the missed Fibonacci Day (23 November), and flag that James Reynolds may be the only junior to have parkrun in all three junior parkrun countries before throwing to TOC and Johan.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 14:26
Two roving reports thrown to together "let's have a listen now to TOC [TOC] and Johan", and back-announced "thank you very much to our Channel 5 News crew members there for the roving reports." TOC reports from week two of Prince of Wales parkrun in Ballarat, interviewing ED/RD Kylie about the event's relocation from Ballarat parkrun after seven and a half years. Johan Duvenhage tail-walks at Melkbosstrand, Cape Town, interviewing touring couple Hoppy and Yvonne Hopkinson, 250-milestone runner Chris Reeler, and South African not-parkrun stats keeper Wilna van Eminens.
Dazza's starts at 26:25
Peanut butter lovers month, crunchy versus smooth. Contributors read out: Carmel Roll (Yowie, Kilcoy), Sonja Pohlman (The Beaches parkrun's eighth birthday, "it takes a lot of little nuts to make a jar of peanut butter"), Errol Poole (Shiraz Trail with his son), Richard in New Zealand (fourth country / world tourist at Western Springs), Claire Stutchbury (250th plus name badge at Umbagong District), Kristy Hill (first go guiding at Jerrabomberra), Heather Hunter (timekeeping as an inflatable unicorn at Forster's sixth birthday), Chloe Bravos (Overlea), Helen Jane Davies (Queen Bee challenge at Burley Griffin), Val Warwick (a frond of four at Bells Parade), Sarah Jefferson (Bunbury, WA), Johan (Melkbosstrand), Karen Hurrell (199th at Haigh Woodland, UK) and Booz Dayton (Wentworth Common, Boobs on the Run).
the Frond starts at 33:04
Appears here as a Dazza's category rather than a standalone segment: Val Warwick reports "we had a frond of four, although only one did the course at Bell's Parade... our parkrun frond time has only just finished after nearly 10 glorious hours together" with Brendan, Jodie and Steve. Melissa also uses the term in the Consolidated Club Report "We were all fronding" and names the largest frond of the week.
the Obi Award — The Beaches parkrun (a parkrun event) starts at 38:01
Presented in a skit by TOC and Jack, who find the envelope under a block of Caramilk at the Inverloch stump. Jack reads it out: "this week's Obi [Obi] goes to... The beaches. From the stump to the sand, well done to the Beaches." Awarded to The Beaches parkrun (NSW), tying in to its eighth birthday and the episode's #getyourfeetwet beach theme. The hosts also back-fill the previous week's unnamed presenter: it was Tim Oberg, "Mr Obi himself, the namesake of the Obi Award."
Guerilla Report starts at 40:19
Alistair Buchanan ("Action Man") files a self-styled guerrilla tourism report from Casula Parklands parkrun, Sydney, the run that completes his Rayfarer status. He interviews ED/RD Craig about COVID, two floods that put nine to ten foot of water over half the course, and the remap forced by a new Powerhouse Museum car park; then interviews Cathy Ray, first female on the Australian and Global Most Events lists and the original Rayfarer. Recorded the week prior, as Ollie clarifies.
Consolidated Club Report starts at 49:29
Melissa reports 278 of 339 members took part on 26 November at 142 locations, short of the 150 mark again, but the club smashed its end-of-2022 target of 210 members. UK 17 events, South Africa 2, USA 2, Canada 1, Norway 1; New South Wales 32 knocked Victoria (29) off its perch, then Queensland 25, SA 8, North Island 7, WA and Tasmania 6 each, ACT 5, South Island 2. Largest frond at Prince of Wales; a close second of nine at Jerrabomberra.
International Ugly Christmas Singlet Day starts at 52:03
Flagged as coming up on 17 December. The hosts discuss orders arriving, Melissa already wearing hers with her moon boot, and stress that "it isn't actually Ollie and I that organise the Ugly Christmas Singlet and shirts. It's the elves. And that's not a metaphor for us."
Sign-off starts at 54:20
Ollie asked where Mel was off to that week: time restraints meant she was heading back to Puckapunyal to run the trails. Ollie was on holidays, on an extended family trip up north, going to Hamilton Island parkrun and celebrating Hannah's 50th parkrun. Mel realised that meant he would not be around the following week and said she would hold the fort while he was off gallivanting. She recapped that he was off to Hamilton Island and she to Pucka, gave the Facebook and email contacts and said that was it for another week.
Siri starts at 57:49
A short post-outro sting after the closing music: Melissa asks "Hey Siri, who's going to win the Soccer World Cup?" and the device answers "I don't have the odds for that one, but France has a better record than Tunisia." Set up earlier by Ollie "Oh, Siri's excited too. Siri even wants to talk." The show notes confirm it as a recurring bit, "Siri is back with all her wisdom."
