Michael Milton
His 50 km Ultra-Trail Australia run on crutches in the Blue Mountains, the biomechanics and equipment of running on forearm crutches, five Winter Paralympics and gold medals, the 213 km/h Australian speed-skiing record, two bouts of cancer, his parkruns in Canberra with his son, and the Cairns Half Ironman three weeks away.
Liv Coop
The Brisbane leg of the 2017 Longest Run, Mansfield (as its pre-launch trial), Wishart, Minnippi, Wynnum, Capalaba, Cleveland and Redland Bay, and the extra time allowed per event so walkers can take part.
Fiona Edmonds
The Logan leg of the Brisbane Longest Run, Yarrabilba, Berrinba, Underwood Park, Meadowbrook, Logan River, meeting the other leg at Cleveland and finishing at Redland Bay, and the spreadsheet-driven scheduling behind it.
Jeremy Savage
WA's two Longest Runs in 2017, a southern route (Applecross, Bibra Lake, Calleya, Champion Lakes, Pioneer, Canning River) and a northern route (Cottesloe, Carine Glades, Quinns Rocks, Lake Joondalup, Aveley, Maylands Peninsula) meeting at Claisebrook Cove, with a group cycling between the southern events, and why WA skipped the previous year.
Rowan
The north/north-east Melbourne Longest Run, Coburg, Darebin, a sneak-peek freedom run at the not-yet-launched Mernda course, Westerfolds, Mullum Mullum, Jells and Frog Hollow, and what the Mernda course will be like.
Tony O'Connell
The new Gippsland Longest Run, a 6.30am headlamp start at Traralgon, then Churchill, Newborough, Warragul, Pakenham, Berwick Springs, finishing with the Melbourne crew at Frog Hollow, and why the date moved to the 11 June long weekend.
Paul Rainbow
Sydney's single Longest Run, planned west-to-east from Penrith Lakes through Nepean River, Rooty Hill, The Ponds and Parramatta to a new event and Willoughby, and the council permissions that make the route hard to finalise.
Steve Manning
Club Corner with the country's third largest parkrun club: how InTraining was founded in 1994, its role in getting New Farm parkrun off the ground, its 700 members, coaching structure and programs, the Saturday parkrun tempo session, a monthly no-watch predictor race, and the club's distinctive red-striped singlet.
Margot Manning
Club Corner with InTraining, the same joint interview: club history, coaching structure, parkrun as the club's weekly tempo session, the monthly predictor race, and the community built around the club singlet.
Roving reports
In this episode
Welcome starts at 0:12
Scott Trickett and Melissa Erbacher, neither of whom ran on a big weekend of UTA, the Warwick Pentathlon and the Great Ocean Road Marathon; Mel volunteered alongside someone heading to the Great Ocean Road. Scott walked Coburg's birthday, under-the-sea fancy dress with his daughter on her own birthday, the family dressed as pirates in $2-shop costumes with an eye patch that did not fit.
Longest Run starts at 3:39
Scott opens the show's national Longest Run preview, "some of it revolves around the longest run. We're going to check in with all our organisers", and crosses first to Melissa Erbacher for the Sunshine Coast leg, which this year runs the seven events in reverse order: Noosa, Town of Seaside, Nambour, Brightwater, Kawana, Golden Beach, Central Lakes, on 11 June. The hosts stress that Longest Run events are freedom runs, not official parkruns.
Longest Run starts at 29:01
The state-by-state Longest Run wraparound resumes after the Michael Milton interview: Brisbane with Liv Coop (Mansfield trial, Wishart, Minnippi, Wynnum, Capalaba, Cleveland, Redland Bay) and Fiona Edmonds (Yarrabilba, Berrinba, Underwood Park, Meadowbrook, Logan River, Cleveland, Redland Bay); Western Australia with Jeremy Savage (a northern and a southern route meeting at Claisebrook Cove, some of it done by bicycle); Victoria with Rowan (Coburg, Darebin, a Mernda sneak peek, Westerfolds, Mullum Mullum, Jells, Frog Hollow) and TOC (Gippsland, Traralgon, Churchill, Newborough, Warragul, Pakenham, Berwick Springs, Frog Hollow); and Sydney with Paul Rainbow (west to east, Penrith Lakes to Willoughby). Eight Longest Runs nationally, all on 11 June 2017.
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 49:44
The show's first ever roving report from the United States. parkrun Australia board president Scott Watkins files from Roosevelt Island parkrun in Washington DC, his first international parkrun, describing the out-and-back boardwalk course on the island in the river between Virginia and DC, then interviewing local parkrunner Joyce, UK military parkrunner Paul, and parkrun USA country manager Darryl.
Launches and anniversaries starts at 56:04"Where is the cake?"
Mel asks "So, Scotty, where's the cake this week?" The hosts note the parkrun Australia newsletter has stopped listing anniversaries and decide on air to change the segment's scope to first anniversaries only, since "that's when there's always cake". No anniversaries this week; three launches, Mawson Lakes (SA), Ballina Coast (NSW) and Mount Beauty (Vic), with Scott heading to Mount Beauty.
Club Corner starts at 58:44
Club Corner returns after an absence ("Club Corner is back") with the country's third largest parkrun club, InTraining of Brisbane. Guests Steve and Margot Manning describe founding the club in 1994 out of oversubscribed training groups, helping get New Farm parkrun off the ground, their 700 members, the minimalist marathon and couch-to-10K programs, the Saturday parkrun tempo session, a monthly no-watch predictor race, and their distinctive red-striped singlet.
Sign-off starts at 1:09:30
Scott called time on episode 69 and looked ahead to being 'in the 70s' next week, asking Mel to bring her 70s A-game; she said she would be there but costumeless, since she could no longer do up zips on the clothes she used to wear.
