Roving reports
In this episode
Channel 5 News Crew
Lyndell Murray reports from the fourth anniversary of Golden Beach parkrun (Sunshine Coast, Qld), which ran a "P" party theme — she is head-to-toe purple with purple zinc. She interviews Ethan and Cherie (punk and princess), Sheila and Lisa (prisoner and police officer), pirates Ian and Daryl, and Event Director Rochelle, who reports around 300+ finishers on the day against a course record of 377.
Roving Adventurers (roving reporter crossovers)
Melissa Ellis reports from the launch of Nhill parkrun in the Victorian Wimmera, halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide. She interviews Patsy from the Twin Towns Running and Walking Club (Tweed Heads), area ambassador Bruce, and 80-year-old Event Director Bev — 104 runners plus about 12 volunteers, with eggs and bacon laid on afterwards.
Dad joke
Scott jokes that it would be funny if Nhill parkrun one week had "nil parkrunners"; Mel groans at [00:59:27] "Oh, God, Scotty... I get your dad joke. Nice work popping that one in there."
Launches and anniversaries ("Where is the cake?")
Cake this week at Dalby (Qld), Darebin (Vic), Kirra (Qld) and Wyndham Vale (Vic); launches at Plantation parkrun in Ayr, far north Queensland, and Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula (71 at the trial).
Shout-outs
Shout-outs to roving adventurer and Channel 5 News crew member TOC (Tony O'Connell) and Central Lakes parkrun ED Tina Kirwan for the Tarawera Trail Marathon in New Zealand — TOC finished in about 14 hours and placed top three in his age category — and to listener "Pommy Andy", who walks about 20km a day at work and is binge-listening from episode one at three episodes a day.
