Marathon planning horizons, coming back from a layoff, dynamic drills and strides versus static stretching, and running the long slow run genuinely slowly.
Roving reports

Welcome starts at 0:20
Lyndell Murray stands in for Mel alongside Scott Trickett. Lyndell went to Mitchelton's sixth anniversary dressed as an abstract licorice allsort for the iron-and-lollies theme, where long-time ED Vince handed over to Carl and Luke; Scott, holidaying at Noosa with Yvonne and Kasia, took a wrong turn on the way to Victory Heights Trail in Gympie for their V, missed the briefing and loved the single-loop switchback course. Scott reports that Mel has had her baby, Emmett Avery Erbacher, and everyone is doing well.
On the Couch with Coach Steve starts at 13:48
Coach Steve Dinneen returns after a long absence for a running-tips Q&A with Scott and Lyndell, with his four-month-old son Billy asleep on his lap. Topics: plan early for a marathon (20-30 weeks out beats 10-12); rebuilding after time off by walk/jogging and Couch to 5K rather than forcing old paces; why dynamic drills and strides have replaced static stretching (warm-up, motor patterns, and the progressive 70/80/90/95% strides); and why the long slow run must actually be slow - Australians "do their slow runs too fast and their fast runs too slow".
Roving reports & the Channel 5 News crew starts at 27:03
Two roving reports back to back. Scott Watkins files from Westpark parkrun in Munich, Germany - where he realised mid-briefing that he had forgotten his barcode, ran 23 minutes, then ran 2.5km to an internet cafe to print one and got back before the Tail Walker - and then from RecPlex North parkrun in Pensacola, Florida, with interviews with Allison, co-EDs Robin Foley and Caleb Carmichael, Volunteer Coordinator Austin, Pensacola Runners Association president Gabby, the Martin family and UWF's Elizabeth. Melissa Ellis then reports from Curl Curl parkrun in Sydney (first-timer Sandra, ED Kim and RD Dana) and from the Sydney longest run, with Ollie and Emily at the secret Mona Vale Beach event and organiser Paul Rainbow at the end of the day.
Launches and anniversaries starts at 1:06:54"Where is the cake?"
No launches in Australia this week. Anniversaries at Burley Griffin (ACT), Corrine Glades (WA), Dolls Point (NSW), Mernda (Vic), North Shore (Qld), Port Sorell (Tas), Wangaratta (Vic) and Yeppoon (Qld) - with Lyndell mistakenly placing Yeppoon in the Garden State and Scott correcting her back to Queensland.
Sign-off starts at 1:11:06
Scott told stand-in co-host Lyndell that they had survived and done okay, asked whether she had been nervous, told her it was over and she could relax, and called "a wrap on 160". He then made the big call that she would be back next week - he had told Mel it was up to him, not her, when she returned, and he thought they would give her at least one more week - and Lyndell said that if it was okay with both him and Mel she would be back.
